| Lightning Strike Image Map - Temp 67.4° F | ||
|
Last Static LOCAL Strike Report The lightning detector is located at the center of the map, on California Mesa just outside of Delta, CO. The map is accurate to within 60 seconds. If no strikes are displayed on the map but lighting activity is indicated, the strikes are occurring outside of the local area. See the other maps for a wide area view. New strikes are displayed as an X which changes to dots as they age. Lightning is classified as either cloud to ground or intra-cloud (CG or IC). It can also be either positive or negative, with positive being the more dangerous form.
Be careful! Lightning kills more people each year on average than tornadoes and hurricanes combined, and +CG is especially dangerous! For more information, visit the National Severe Storms Lab on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) web site. |
