| Lightning Strike Image Map - Temp 33.9° F | ||
|
Last Static LOCAL Strike Report, updated every 60 seconds The lightning detector is located at the center of the map, on California Mesa just outside of Delta, CO. The map is updated every 60 seconds and the screen image will refresh every 10 seconds to get the latest update. If no strikes are displayed on the map but lighting activity is indicated, the strikes are occurring outside of the local area. See the other maps for a wide area view. New strikes are displayed as an X which changes to dots as they age. Lightning is classified as either cloud to ground or intra-cloud (CG or IC). It can also be either positive or negative, with positive being the more dangerous form.
No thunderstorms detected Be careful! Lightning kills more people each year on average than tornadoes and hurricanes combined, and +CG is especially dangerous! For more information, visit the National Severe Storms Lab on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) web site. |
