| Lightning Map - Last 60 minute loop - Temp 68.5° F | ||
Last 60 Minute Loop Strike ReportThe lightning detector is located at the center of the map, on California Mesa just outside of Delta, CO, and the map is updated every 60 seconds. New strikes are displayed as symbols (▼▲) which change to dots as they age. The color of the symbols/dots indicate the type/age of the strike (see legend for details). Lightning is classified as either cloud to ground or intra-cloud (CG or IC). It can also be either positive or negative, with positive being the more dangerous form. The screen can be zoomed between 375 mi. and 180 mi. using the Zoom/Full buttons under View Range at the top. The Event Loop Run button allows replay of the last 30 or 60 minutes of activity at 60x speed. Be careful! Lightning kills more people each year on average than tornadoes and hurricanes combined, and +CG is especially dangerous!
