Tucking fibre into the vape is important when you learn to manage your device in the most efficient ways. Firstly, different materials change the functionality of the vape. Some give more vapour, some add to taste, others, on the contrary, burn quickly and add bitterness to the taste of the vapour. So, even if you are not going to do it yourself on a regular basis, it is a good idea to know how the fibre should be tucked, even in theory. On the other hand, perhaps you will find out that you like certain types of fibre more, and will be able to improve your vaping experience.
How To Do That
Before you tuck the fibre into the coils, you have to check the color of the coils. If the coils have lost their silver color, and became dark and dim, it means that the coils were burned for a long time and have a residue of the liquid on them. To clean the coils, you have to remove the old fibre, heat the coil several times until they are red, and put them carefully into water. The contrast of temperatures will force residue to break away from the surface of the coil. The coils will not be damaged. If you want, you can also buy special small metal brushes and clean the coils that way.
If you have more than one coil in the vape, check if they are heated simultaneously and to similar temperature. If not, try to adjust the bolts holding the coils in place. After your coils are clean and are heating simultaneously, you are ready to tuck the fibre.
The fibre is sold either as a thread, or in thin square pieces. Take nail scissors and cut the thread, to the length you need to fit into the coil. If you have fibre in pieces, cut several wicks from the piece. If you have more than one coil, you need a separate wick for each, therefore make sure the pieces of fibre are equal for all coils.
If the fibre in pieces is compressed, you fill find it hard to wind it evenly. So try to take off the upper and lower layers of each piece you have cut off. These layers are usually thicker, while the inner layers are more feathery and will be easy to deform. Wind one tip of each piece and tuck into the coils. Cut the excess of the fibre and push the tips into the tank with a needle or a stick. Make sure to moisten the newly tucked fibre with the vaping liquid before you vape, otherwise you’ll burn the fibre down quickly and will have to change it again.
